they see english as bowler hatted umbrella carrying toffs
scots as kilt wearing whiskey drinking bagpipe playing and meanies
irish as red headed drunks
ichinese and japanese as oriental dressed, odd rice eatiers
etc etc
and they dont realise or care that the real modern world, all these people look just like them, and just like each other
and infact all these countries are bypassing them in the modernisation race because america thinks they are all so 'backward' and behind them that they dont try
they also like to think of themselves as really great compared
to everyone else in the world, comparative viewing its called
this is why they all talk about having freedom and being the greatest free country
while ignoring the fact that britain
infact
has better freedom and equality than they have right now
even our poor and people on welfare are treated better than theirs
we have a better (i didnt say good i said better) health system
and we make our governments listen to us
we even kicked out our own prime minister
and we (scotland)got our own scottish parliment
but
its their life thats lived in ignorance and it only means its their life thats not as good as it could be
while the rest of us with proper education
know what real freedom is
and know when we do and dont have it
and we dont protest to the rest of the world about having this great 'freedom'
when we dont know what freedom and governing in their country is like and infact have so little rights ourselves that freedom is a word we dont actually fully comprehendthat would be what makes them so arrogant
and their ignorance is only going to be the downfall of them along with their arrogance
let them have their stereotypes, ignorance, and arrogance
its their own lives they mess up because they dont ask much of their government and leaders because they honestly believe so whole heartedly they have such great lives
where as the rest of us in the world, change our lives because we KNOW and ACCEPT when its not right
and we ask for more
i was watching the walmart programme/movie
and i saw that the people who owned their small business were talking about their shop being in their family being so important and wallmart ruining their life
then in the same shot
they have vote bush sticker
and bush calenders
AND at the same time
one of them said about being the greatest free country (as per usual)
i sat in awe and had to say to my boyf
dont they realise bush could stop this at any time
who do they think is letting wallmart stay in business
themselves by continuing to buy all those useless small items like frigging milk, when the rest of us go to our corner shop, which is WHY their local shops end up closing
and bush and the government who have the power to do and stop anything thats needed
sheer and utter delusional simpletons some people are
(obviously i dont think all americans are, but certainly there are some nuts out there)Why do American TV programmes/movies make British people sound posh/snotty/pathetic/uncool?Hehehe, hahaha, hehehe, hahaha...please stop...I'm getting a cramp in my side.

Why do American TV programmes/movies make British people sound posh/snotty/pathetic/uncool?
If you're going to use our language, at least use it correctly
Well, I see you sure didn't mind the person with the best answer completely mutilating the English language.

Why do American TV programmes/movies make British people sound posh/snotty/pathetic/uncool?Derogatory you say? You were the one who came into my perfectly reasonable question without even answering it, to say “There are enough British people on this site right now.” Do you have something against the British? Clearly you do else you wouldn’t have said it. Sounds fairly derogatory to me.Report Abuse
I bet the reason you felt like that in the first place is because of the way your media portray us.
“And why do the British always bash the US?” I didn’t realise we did. I wasn’t bashing them at all, in fact I like America. I like the music/TV/movies from America.

Why do American TV programmes/movies make British people sound posh/snotty/pathetic/uncool?I was just curious as to why they always make British people seem like complete wankers that I want to smack in the mouth. Surely if whichever state you’re from was made into a worldwide laughing stock by the rest of the US, for something which is characteristic of less than 1% of your…Report Abuse
Why do American TV programmes/movies make British people sound posh/snotty/pathetic/uncool?state’s population, you’d be slightly curious as to why they do it? “If it weren't for us, you'd be speaking German right now. All I did was state a fact. Something that you apparently cannot comprehend.” No, I wouldn’t. What makes you think that’s a fact?

It’s likely that Nazis would’ve taken over Britain, but my grandparents wouldn’t even have met if we’d lost the war, so I wouldn’t be here to speak at all. I couldn’t care less if this is how it’d turned out, I wouldn’t be here to know about it.

Why do American TV programmes/movies make British people sound posh/snotty/pathetic/uncool?At the end of the day I think the US would happily have seen us lose the war if the Japanese hadn’t come along and bombed Pearl Harbor. Hardly a selfless act by the US. Anyway I’m not sure how this is relevant to the question and I can’t be bothered to keep typing in these little things anymore. =]

Fou Fou, you assume way too much about the US. You preach about America and it's arrogance, yet you describe America as if you know it in and out.

But excuse me I MUST be in the wrong. I know its "COOL" now to act like you know a f*ck*ng flip about the US and be against it. I mean move over Bush this moron with internet access knows exactly how to run the country.

What time is it in England right now? There are enough British people on this site right now. And why do the British always bash the US? If it weren't for us, you'd be speaking German right now.

Hmm, now there's an intelligent response. Where in my answer does it say that "I'm" taking credit for your freedom? All I did was state a fact. Something that you apparently cannot comprehend.
%26lt;%26lt;EDIT%26gt;%26gt;
Like I said, you cannot comprehend the English language.
And why do the British always bash the US?
US, United States, a nationality. Not I, we or our.
If it weren't for us,
Not an abbreviation for the United States, but meaning the United States none the less.
(objective "us") (used to indicate a particular profession, nationality, political party, etc., that the speaker or writer belongs to.)
Oh, and by responding to my answer is such a derogatory manner, you are basically answering your own question.
.
It is only a movie, I love the American people, but I am old, and remember many American comrades in arms, the films are made that way because that is how we are perceived, so what?
because that is how Americans view them.
Everyone no matter the culture, race, gender.....whatever. Is always going to bash and make fun of those who are different from ourselves. We don't know the British people enough personally to make a real decisive decision on who they are, so by instinct we go by the larger opinion of the general consensus in our area - which is typically what television tells us. I've been lucky enough to come into contact with a few British folks and have learned they are exactly the same as us, just with a quirky accent. They are humans, too. The only thing that separates one human from another, is how we are raised and the environment we live in. Everybody can develop cancer, everybody can be sad, happy, or humorous. But what influences this are traits from parents, atmosphere in which we were brought up in, and the rest is up to us.
