Survey: What older thriller-type foreign movies can you recommend?

I'm exploring watchable older films. I am referring to "foreign" as in, not American movies. Not that I have anything against watchable older American films. Al-righty then!Survey: What older thriller-type foreign movies can you recommend?How old is old to you?



Smilla's Sense of Snow (1997) is a great thriller set in Denmark. A woman investigates the death of a young boy and discovers a bigger story.



The Name Of The Rose (1986) would be considered foreign, I guess. Excellent murder mystery set in the Dark Ages.



It Happened in Broad Daylight (original title: Es geschah am hellichten Tag) is an excellent German thriller from 1958 with Heinz Rühmann. If you have seen The Pledge, it's based on the same Dürrenmatt story.



The Odessa File (1974) is a British/German coproduction I think. It's a pretty good Nazi conspiracy movie.



Spoorloos (1988) is a very intense Dutch thriller about the disapperance of a young woman and her boyfriend who wants to find out what happened to her.



The Day Of The Jackal (1973) is another great classic. An assassin wants to kill the French President.



The Tenant (1976) by Roman Polanski borders on the horror/mystery genre. Watch this if you liked Rosemary's Baby.



And finally, Nikita (1990) is a very stylish spy flick about a sexy female assassin.Survey: What older thriller-type foreign movies can you recommend?
