What do you know about military scientists?

This is about the 5th question I've asked about science in the military... :) But this time, I want to know whatever you know about military scientists, whether it be uniformed or civilian military scientists, or officer or enlisted, and so on. Also include, if you can, how to become involved in any given science related field, etc.

PS: I understand that there are no "white coat scientists" in the military, I am simply asking about science related jobs and positions and duties.

Thank you! What do you know about military scientists? If you've already asked this question 47 (not 5, closer to 47) times, what makes you think you'll get a different answer this time? There are no military "scientists" on this board.

EDIT: so maybe 15, not 47. You get the idea, too goddamn many. What do you know about military scientists?
The Navy has full-time engineers called engineering duty officers and aerospace engineering duty officers, both of whom deal with integrating and repairing existing technology. Both require an MS and rigorous qualification boards. There is all the civil engineering corps (SeaBees) and they require officers to become professional engineers in civil engineering as they progress. The Air Force does have full time uniformed research personnel at Wright Patterson, Travis AFB, and some of their other development commands. A small number of them actually work on testing new concepts like advanced engine designs, airborne lasers, etc. As for science, technology and education in general, your best bet is probably Air Force. They can guide you to a career closer to a real scientist. What do you know about military scientists?like said there are no military scientists and about the closest thing you would find is a civilian working under the doctrine of research FOR the military, or at the very least government funding, which in a very very broad sense of the word means that what ever you discover belongs to the government............or has a leaning towards something they could use for a weapon be it an actual weapon or biological warfare etc etc. What do you know about military scientists?
Look. There aren't any military scientists. period. Unless you consider testing fuel samples to be science. We are on the Operational end of the technology not the Innovation end. If you want to be a scientist for the DoD here's what you do.

1.Go to Stanford, MIT or possibly Johns Hopkins

2. Get your PhD from above institution.

3. While in Grad school affiliate with DARPA, or APL.

4. Invent stuff.

5. Sell same stuff to Congress.

6. Brief people like me on "Press here...wait for boom."What do you know about military scientists?Maybe this is good for you,all you can be,and you can hide from others?

but the real true is you can be,as long they can hide it?What do you know about military scientists?
closest you can probably get to science is the Navy's research ships that conduct Meteorology and Oceanography, mapping the oceans floors and weather forcasts.
