What military branch would be most beneficial/look best for a career in the FBI?

I am going to college, but also want to join the military. My goal is to join the FBI; which military branch would help me achieve that? What military branch would be most beneficial/look best for a career in the FBI?Not real sure. If you are super smart, I would suggest joining the Marines if you can get a job in Intelligence. What military branch would be most beneficial/look best for a career in the FBI?
There are many angles to answer your question. First, it really depends on what, exactly, you want to do in the FBI. There are different fields to get into. You could be a field officer, a researcher, an investigator, a chemical analyst, and the list goes on. Most FBI agents spend 99% of their time doing research and paper work, only about 1% in the hunt or having fun. Each branch of the military, except Marine Corps, have departments that do criminal investigation. However, there are computer fields for those bad guys that hid stuff on their computers. There are scientist that study trace evidence from a crime scene, there are field agents that do research, etc. The bottom line, research what you want to do in the FBI, then cross reference that to the different branches of the military then figure out if you want to be an officer or enlisted. Officer takes 4 years of college. Then you can map it out. The major you have in college may also direct you toward a certain career in the FBI or military. Time for you to do some research and deep thinking on what you want to do. Best of luck. What military branch would be most beneficial/look best for a career in the FBI?Any of them, with Intelligence probably being your best option, or counter intelligence.

Assuming you are 18:

Join army, navy or air force intel or counter intel.

Do 2-3 years active. You'll be 20 or 21. Still to young for the FBI.

Use the Post 9-11 GI Bill to go to school full time and graduate in three years. Criminal Justice is a good major, but so are business related degrees. Plus, that gives you a fall back if you ever get hurt or anything.

You'll graduate at 23 - 24. Start applying at the FBI. You military experience and security clearance should help you a lot. Make sure you have perfect credit, too, and stay out of any legal trouble.

Other law enforcement branches to consider would be the DEA, ATF and NSA.

And don't forget about good ol street cop work. Pays well and that is really where all the action is.

Good luck! What military branch would be most beneficial/look best for a career in the FBI?
I am an intelligence specialist in the us navy. Usually intelligence is the best route to get into government agencies. Military will pay for your top secret/sci clearance which as a civilian can cost over $50000. You will have to sign for 6 years starting out since intelligence entails a lot of schooling. I have enjoyed my time in naval intel so far so I would recommend it.
