I wanted to join the army, air force or the navy. Not sure I was planning on enlisting soon. I wanted to be a Physician Assistant (PA). Which should I do go to college then join the military or Military then college?Which military is best when it comes to wanting to pursue a career in health care?Well....If you enlist now you can go through the Army's PA program.
The link below will go step by step with you.
Can you afford to go to college without help from the GI Bill? If the answer is yes, then go to college first but if you do need the extra help money wise, I would enlist.
Good luck!Which military is best when it comes to wanting to pursue a career in health care?
Catch 22 with that plan.
The services do this. They have enlisted people. Those enlisted people take night courses then apply for PA. They get selected and get sent to PA school, picking up a degree. When they graduate they are commissioned as a 2LT or Ensign and owe about 5 years for the schooling. They already have 8-10 as am enlisted person so when they finish their required time, they will be 5-7 years to retire. So they tend to stick around. Also, to do it, all they have to do is get promoted to Captain and they can coast to 20 years.
Now your plan has a problem. If you finish PA school and join you will come in as a 2LT or Ensign. With no time in service. So in the next 20 years you will have to be promoted to at least major or you will not be able to make 20 years. You could find yourself being booted out at 14 years if you fail to make major.
So that is why I say your plan is a catch 22. You can be a PA or you can be career but being both as a PA may not happen.
I would do like the other enlisted people do who want to be PAs, use the system for your advantage and not try to do it a different way.Which military is best when it comes to wanting to pursue a career in health care?Well I know the Air Force pays a ridiculous amount of money for anyone in the medical field.
I say Join the military as enlisted. The Air Force will pay you to go to college for that, especially if you are going to be a medic.
Either that, or get an ROTC scholarship and enter the military as an officer while the govt. pays for most of ur school.Which military is best when it comes to wanting to pursue a career in health care?
