What is the best branch of the military?

My fiance is 21 and has his Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Economics. He isn't sure what he wants to do for a career but is drawn to the Army's commissioned officer program. His mom is concerned that the Army is too dangerous to go into, but he enjoys camping, rock climbing, and firearms training and thinks he'll get to do this most in the Army. He is interested in military intelligence, but dreams of being a professional rock climber. Any suggestions from those who have insight on multiple branches of the US military? What is the best branch of the military? With that type of degree and in my honest opinion he might be way more happier in the Air Force. You can always climb rocks and pitch a tent on your time off. I'm not really being biased here either as I retired from the Army and from a few years of teaching officers most of them had degrees in CJ, Psychology, Sociology etc. With a Poli Sci and economics I think he would use his talents more and be happier in the AF with that type of educational background. The Army, even as an officer, isn't too concerned if you can predict the next president or add some numbers as opposed to putting rounds downrange and blowing stuff up and there really isn't time or that much opportunity to climb up and down cliffs or do a kumbaya around a campfire. The AF likes to soak peoples brains and use their talents in other ways so, again, just my opinion but we might want to compare the two and see which one is going to give him more job satisfaction. What is the best branch of the military?
There is no BEST branch of the military

But for him I'd say the Air Force would be betterWhat is the best branch of the military?Air Force

they are the more intellectual branch of the military

they offer more intelligence jobs and pay the best and best living conditions

his degree will be much appreciated there

i do not suggest army because thats more combat and fighting..but if thats what he wants to do then tell him to go for it

NOT the navy...he could be away from you for six months at a time which would not be good for a new family so i dont suggest it

go air force=]

good luck and much respect to him for looking at the military
As a commissioned officer in intelligence, the chances of him experiencing combat like that of an Infantryman, is extremely low. I don't think as intelligence he'll be kicking doors in, haha.

Army is a good branch, however, USAF does offer better schooling and he has an even less chance of seeing any combat (if ever deployed). What is the best branch of the military?Whatever branch you are in.What is the best branch of the military?
Here's the way to figure it (jokingly)

In military language to "secure" means to capture.

If you tell the army to secure a building they will set seige to the building until everyone inside is starved out and set it up as their headquarters.

If you tell the marines to secure a building they will storm it and in hand to hand combat kill everyone inside. Then they will call in artillery and level it to the ground.

If you tell the Navy to secure a building they will go in, turn off all the lights and lock the doors.

If you tell the Air Force to secure a building they will negotiate a five year lease with an option to buy
Navy you get deployed at sea in the fleet, prolly boring cause not much action or the stuff like camping and whatever your fiance likes. Airforce would prolly be best for him, theres alot of hands on training for weapons systems depending on job selection, idk about the camping and what not. Army is prolly a good choice, if he doesnt want danger then well he can prolly get a job out of the infantry, and he'll get alot of the training he likes like rock climbing and shooting and what not. now the Marine Corps he'll deffinitaly get alot of weapons training with his m16 lots of hiking and running and just alot of PT, but the marine corps is the most prone to combat so yeah there ya go.What is the best branch of the military?
I would say army because if he likes rock climbing tell him to look into the 10th moutain div. the only unit in the army which is moutain infantry and he would travel a lot too in the army plus he can to both of our moutain training school's.
Well, here is the deal. by asking whats the best branch in the Military your stirring up the hornets nest...

but il give you some info, With the BA he is eligible to be an officer. though, if he really loves Camping and rock climbing etc, thats any branch really. The USAF Pararescue, are a tough but limited bunch, their job isnt to fight but more of a tactical search and Rescue, they are SERE specialist. they drop in where ever and whenever whether is fast roping from a helicopter or HALO jumping from planes. if he wishes to see combat, then he can pipeline to the CCT school. As a pararescue he will be a certified EMT And that kind of training can lead to medical school. THough il be honest, its a nasty job. but sometimes getting to a downed pilot behind enemy lines climbing mountains, or swimming through swamps, or even rappelling down a mountain to scoop a pilot out of his escape seat thats hanging on the side of the mountain, ALL while the bad guys are looking for him? its a rush.

But, if he is going into the army, and doesnt become an officer, its al about his ASVAB score, you can be the smartest guy in the world and be shoved into a helmet and thrown on the front lines. Depending on that score. As a Green Beret, you have to be smart. physically active. but we dont really climb mountains. in fact, ive not climbed one... in Ranger school we had to do a rock climbing course, gave us two days to figure it out. Im an ARMY GURU. though ill tell you, if he doesnt want the danger of serious combat, but still wants all the extremes and even be considered special ops and gets to carry a nice lil firearm. pararescue is for him, though honestly. The USAF alot of people join it for the education it gives, while serving your job gives you an Associates degree. just for serving. (pretty sweet deal) and they pay the most for education. Whichever job you choose. ive done joint ops with Seals, Recon, and.... yea.. pararescue.

When it comes to deciding on a job, while family is a huge factor. it comes down to what he WANTS to do, any job in any branch that require mountain climbing is a combat profession. any job you'll have a bullet whiz by your head. Email me if you wanna Know anymore, im all for helping someone go into the branch thats best for them. biggsmann@yahoo.com
My answer to questions like this is always that the Army has parts of all the other branches. The Air Force is a great service and ha a lot of opportunities. The Marines, well, the Marines are all infantry first then their specialty. The Navy, most ship out for 3 to 6 months at a time (not all specialties sail).

And remember, whatever he decides he will have downtime to enjoy his past-times if he does not get the job of danger he desires.
