If someone were to choose to go in the military as an officer via a military academy, how do they need to go about it? What I mean is, does that person need to talk to a recruiter about joining the specific academy and then joining the military as an officer afterwards, or do you need to join the academy on your own and then talk to a recruiter afterwards? How do the military academies work?If your grades and extracurriculars don't have you competitive for Ivy League schools, don't bother applying, they are that competitive you'll just be wasting your time. How do the military academies work? You don't need to talk to a recruiter at all. See the academies' websites (usma.edu, usna.edu, usafa.edu) for application processes. A Congressional nomination from their home state Senator or home district Congressman is required as well as acceptance into the Academy via an application, interview, physical examination, etc. If you are accepted to and complete 4 years at the Academy, you are commissioned as a 2nd Lt (Air Force, Army) or Ensign (Navy, Coast Guard). How do the military academies work? The Academies each have an admissions department. Do a little homework, understand the missions and know what you are getting into.
Life changing experience (positive).
Good luckHow do the military academies work?
You talk to your career counselor and then you ask your Senator for a nomination. You don't choose it, they choose you.
