Why did the bolivian military decide to kill che guevara without a trial?

Furthermore, didn't the CIA and the blivian military realize that his death would immortalize him as a martyr? were there any plans to capture him rather than kill him?Why did the bolivian military decide to kill che guevara without a trial?why risk lives to capture a known mass murderer- a man who is armed and dangerous?

the "martyr" bit was intended from the beginning- by Guevaras masters. That is why he was sent into Bolivia in the first place- and then cut off from supplies. In Cuba he was becoming a liability- incompetent administrator with a liking for rape and torture. So what better way of getting rid of a stinking mercenary?

Moreover no one really knows who shot Guevara- it just might have been one of his soviet sponsored "minders"
