Recently separated from the military, can I claim the purchase of business attire on my taxes?

I separated from the military in April 2007, and had to purchase business attire to start a civilian position on 01 APR. Are those costs tax deductible? Any help is greatly appreciated!Recently separated from the military, can I claim the purchase of business attire on my taxes?the only attire that can be included in employee expenses [which are subject to a 2% of AGI deduction and then go into itemized deductions] are those items which are specifically required by the employer in writing, AND have no "usual" use in civilian life.

Example: steel toed work boots, if required in writing for a construction job, are deductible. However, the gloves that are also required are not deductible since they're also used for gardening and home projects.Recently separated from the military, can I claim the purchase of business attire on my taxes? No. As you can where it other places, the suit (or whatever) is not deductible.Recently separated from the military, can I claim the purchase of business attire on my taxes?nope..sorry...it's not for business, it's a suit.

If it was a uniform, then yes..but it's not.

(and the word is 'wear', for the idiot who can't spell above me..)Recently separated from the military, can I claim the purchase of business attire on my taxes?
