What scores were used for the American in Paris ballet??
I've fallen in love with Gershwin music and the movie American in Paris...what scores were used throughout the movie? What scores were used for the American in Paris ballet??The entireity of An American in Paris tone-poem, which pretty much is the music for the fantasy ballet at the end of the movie; the third (?) movement of Gershwin's wonderful Piano Concerto in F, the songs Our Love Is Here To Stay, I Got Rhythm (in that wonderful sequence where Gene Kelly is tapdancing with all the local kids surrounding him), 'S Wonderful, Embraceable You, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Strike Up The Band, By Strauss. It's a wonderful film with wonderful music - if you want some more great Gershwin, get hold of the cast recording of "Crazy for You" which is a musical based on Gershwin's "Girl Crazy" and features pretty much all of his best songs! Also, for films in a similar vein to An American in Paris, check out The Bandwagon, On The Town and of course Singin' In The Rain! What scores were used for the American in Paris ballet??Probably the entire score of "An American in Paris" which was WRITTEN as an opera/ballet by Gershwin. It was his first serious work in the semi classical field.
